Agra, Uttar Pradesh. डॉ. भीमराव आंबेडकर विश्वविद्यालय (आगरा विश्वविद्यालय Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University Agra University) के कुलपति प्रोफेसर अशोक मित्तल (Prof Ashok Mittal Vice chancellor) अपनी सहजता, सरलता और सौम्यता के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं। वे हर किसी के प्रति नम्र हैं। हर कार्य में पारदर्शिता बरतते हैं। समष्टि अर्थशास्त्र, सार्वजनिक वित्त और अर्थमिति के प्रकांड विद्वान हैं। उनकी कई पुस्तकें प्रकाशित हो चुकी हैं। प्रोफेसर के नाते अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय (Aligarh muslim university) से गहरा नाता है। कई विश्वविद्यालयों का पाठ्यक्रम डिजाइन किया है। शिक्षण का 43 वर्ष का अनुभव है। उनके नाम तमाम उपलब्धियां हैं। ऐसे प्रो. अशोक मित्तल से हमने उनकी निजी जीवन पर लम्बी बातचीत की। इस दौरान उन्होंने अपनी सफलता का रहस्य भी उजागर किया। एक जुलाई को विवि के स्थापना दिवस से पूर्व प्रस्तुत हैं बातचीत के मुख्य अंश-

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः आपके जीवन का लक्ष्य क्या था?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः मेरे जीवन का लक्ष्य एक ही था कि ईमानदारी से जीवनयापन करना औऱ भगवान ने अध्यापक बनाया है, तो इस क्षेत्र में आगे बढ़ना।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः तो क्या आप अपना लक्ष्य हासिल कर पाए?
प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः बिलकुल मुझे पूर्ण संतुष्टि है। ईश्वर कृपा से और आप जैसे मित्रों के सहयोग से लक्ष्य मिला।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः क्या कुलपति बनना चाहते थे?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः इसके लिए मैंने कभी नहीं सोचा। बस ये सोचा था कि प्रोफेसर बन गए हैं, शोध करेंगे, बच्चों को पढ़ाएंगे। सेंट्रल यूनिवसिर्टी में प्रोफेसर थे। इससे अधिक कुछ होता नहीं है। कुलपति के बारे में तो कभी सोचा नहीं था। हमारे विद्यार्थियों ने जबरदस्ती हमारी एप्लीकेशन भेज दी। बुलावा भी आ गया।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः भोजन में सबसे ज्यादा क्या पसंद है?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः दाल, रोटी, आलू का भरता.. बस। यही मुझे पसंद है।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः इसे तो सब खाते हैं, आप कुलपति हैं, कुछ खास पसंद हो?
प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः नहीं। शादी में जाते हैं तो वहां अगर तवा रोटी और दाल का कॉर्नर है तो वहीं जाकर खा लेते हैं। कई मित्र बोले कि मित्तल साहब यह तो रोज ही खाते हैं तो मैं कहता हूं कि अपनी आदत नहीं बिगाड़ेंगे। जो घर पर खाते हैं, वही यहां खाएंगे।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः भोजन मां के हाथ का अच्छा लगता है या पत्नी के हाथ का?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः ऐसा कौन व्यक्ति होगा जो मां के हाथ का भोजन पसंद नहीं करेगा। मां ने बचपन में चूल्हे पर रोटी बनाकर खिलाई। फिर गैस आ गई तो उस पर भी बनाई। पत्नी बहुत अच्छा भोजन बनाती हैं और मां उन्हें सिखा गईं।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः दोनों के भोजन में कोई फर्क महसूस होता है?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः शुरू में होता था लेकिन इधर अब नहीं होता है।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः कभी पत्नी ने आपको अपने हाथ से खाना खिलाया है?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः बहुत बार।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः क्या आपने पत्नी को भी अपने हाथ से खाना खिलाया है कभी?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः उनकी तबियत खराब हुई तो हमने भी खिलाया।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः क्या आप भीषण सर्दी में भी रोजाना स्नान करते हैं?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः बिलकुल। 365 दिन। मैं कोरोना संक्रमित हो गया था। उस दौरान भी मैंने स्नान करना नहीं छोड़ा।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः घूमने के लिए सबसे ज्यादा कौन सा स्थान अच्छा लगता है?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः जहां दिल लग जाए, वही सबसे अच्छा स्थान है।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः आपकी हॉबीज क्या हैं?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः पुराने गाने सुनना बड़ा पसंद है।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः पसंदीदा गाना कौन सा है?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः तत्काल यह कहना मुश्किल है। लेकिन सभी पुराने गाने अच्छे हैं।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः क्या बाथरूम में कभी गाना नहीं गुनगुनाया?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः नहीं।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः क्या बहुत जल्दी स्नान कर लेते हैं?
प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः ऐसा भी नहीं है। वहां भजन करने के लिए भी बहुत कुछ है।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः आपकी नजर में सबसे अच्छा अभिनेता कौन सा है?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः अशोक कुमार, दिलीप कुमार, राजकपूर की कलाकारी से जो जुड़ाव महसूस होता था, वह आजकल नहीं होता है।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः आपकी नजर में सबसे अच्छी अभिनेत्री कौन सी है?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः मधुबाला, नरगिस, मीना कुमारी, वहीदा रहमान, नूतन में जो शालीनता और जो हमारी परंपरा का दर्शन होता था, अब नहीं होता है।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः सिनेमा हॉल में पिक्चर देखी है कभी?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः बचपन में देखी हैं। हमारे घर के पाछे ही महालक्ष्मी सिनेमा हॉल था। बहुत शौक नहीं था। इंटर के बाद से तो हमने पिक्चर देखना ही बंद कर दिया।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः कुलपति बनने के बाद पिक्चर देखने का मौका मिला क्या?
प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः नहीं। मुझे याद नहीं पड़ता कि पिछले 20 साल में मैंने पिक्चर देखी है।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः कभी घर से डिमांड नहीं हुई पिक्चर दिखाने की?
प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः थोड़ी बहुत होती है लेकिन कुछ न कुछ मजबूरी हो जाती है।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः सबसे अच्छा नेता कौन सा है?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी कभी हमारे प्रिय थे।


डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः वस्त्रों में कौन सा रंग पसंद है?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः हल्का आसमानी।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः आपको किससे डर लगता है और क्यों?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः ये कहना मुश्किल है कि किससे डर सकता है। कभी-कभी नदी किनारे जा रहे हैं तो जल से डर लगने लगता है पांव लड़खड़ा न जाए। पहाड़ों पर ऊपर चढ़े और नीचे की ओर देखते हैं तो डर लगता है। यह मेरे साथ ही नहीं बल्कि सामान्यतः सबके साथ होता है।

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः ये सौभाग्य प्राप्त नहीं हुआ।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः आपने क्या लव मैरिज की है?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः नहीं।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः शादी से पहले लड़की देखी थी क्या?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः लड़की देखी थी, जब माता-पिता ने कहा।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः शादी और सगाई के बीच में संवाद कैसे कायम हुआ?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः तब मोबाइल होते नहीं थे। हमारी ससुराल में फोन भी नहीं था। इसलिए संवाद नहीं हुआ।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः ऐसा कोई वाकया जब आपकी पत्नी से तकरार हुई हो और आपने अलग अंदाज में मनाया हो?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः सबसे बड़ी बात यह है क हमको तम्बाकू और मसाले का शौक है और इस पर अकसर तकरार हो जाती है। कह देते हैं कि गलती हो गई।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः जीवन का कोई ऐसा किस्सा जो सबके साथ शेयर करना चाहते हैं?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः मेरी लाइफ बहुत साधारण है। इसलिए मेरे साथ कोई स्पेशल घटना नहीं हुई।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः आपकी सफलता का रहस्य क्या है?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः गीता के अनुसार मन, वचन, कर्म से आदमी एक ही रहे। मेरा प्रयास है कि हर कार्य में पारदर्शिता रहे। सभी साथियों का सहयोग और सुझाव लेते हुए हमको काम करना चाहिए। मुझमें कोई ईगो नहीं है।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः आपको आगरा पसंद है तो क्यों?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः आगरा मेरी जन्मस्थली है। इसलिए पसंद-नापसंद का कोई सवाल ही नहीं है।

डॉ. भानु प्रताप सिंहः क्या आप अपने इस जीवन से संतुष्ट हैं?

प्रो. अशोक मित्तलः काफी कुछ संतुष्ट हूँ। प्रोफेसर की लाइफ में ज्यादा संतुष्ट था। जाहिर है कि इतना बड़ा पद है, इसकी बहुत सी डिमांड हैं। इससे पहले मैं कभी प्रशासनिक कार्य में नही रहा, किसी पार्टी से संबंध नहीं रहा, जाहिर है कि ये चुनौतियां आती हैं।
